Your reflections are yours.
Bourn Legacy exists to help you understand yourself, not to collect your personal life. We believe trust comes first, so we've written this policy in plain language to explain what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
Effective June 20, 2026.
Who we are
Bourn Legacy is a private reflection platform designed to help people recognize patterns, make wiser decisions, and build healthier legacies. It is operated by Purpose Bourn Technologies, based in Tennessee, United States.
What we collect
- Account information: your email address, an optional display name, and an encrypted password hash.
- Your reflections: the prompts, responses, and intents you write during a reflection. Stored against your account.
- Basic technical data: standard request logs (IP, user agent, timestamps) used to keep the service running and secure. We do not run third-party advertising or behavioral tracking.
How we use it
- To create and secure your account.
- To save your reflections and sync them across your devices when you sign in.
- We may review anonymous usage trends, such as how many people complete a reflection, to improve the experience. These reports never identify individual users.
- To contact you about meaningful product or security changes. We do not send streak reminders or marketing blasts.
What we never do
- We never sell your data.
- We never use your private reflections to train public AI models.
- We never share your reflections with another user or third party except as required to operate the service (e.g. our hosting and database provider) or by law.
AI transparency
- AI helps generate personalized responses based on the reflections you choose to share.
- Your private reflections are never used to train public AI models.
- Your reflections are never sold or shared for advertising purposes.
- AI is designed to support your reflection, not make decisions for you.
Where it lives
We design Bourn Legacy with privacy and security as foundational principles rather than afterthoughts.
Account data and reflections are stored in an encrypted database hosted on our managed cloud infrastructure. Row-level security ensures that only you can read or modify your own reflections. Connections are encrypted in transit (TLS) and data is encrypted at rest by our infrastructure provider.
Your choices
- Access & export: you can view all of your reflections in your Journal at any time.
- Correction: you can edit or delete any reflection from your Journal.
- Deletion: to delete your account and all associated reflections, email us at privacy@bournlegacy.com from your account email. We will confirm and complete deletion within 30 days.
- Residents of California, the EU/UK, and other regions with applicable privacy laws have additional rights (access, portability, objection). Contact us to exercise them.
Your control
- You choose what you share.
- You can edit or delete your reflections whenever you choose.
- If you decide Bourn Legacy is no longer right for you, you may request deletion of your account and associated reflections.
We believe your story belongs to you.
Founding member period
During our Founding Member period, any feedback you voluntarily provide may be used to improve Bourn Legacy. Your private reflections remain private and are never shared with other users.
Children
Bourn Legacy is not directed to anyone under 16. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us and we will remove it.
Changes
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the effective date above and, when appropriate, notify you by email.
Privacy is part of our mission
Meaningful reflection requires trust.
We've built Bourn Legacy to protect your privacy while helping you better understand yourself. Every design decision is guided by the belief that your personal reflections deserve respect, security, and care.
